Regional Legal Advisor - Canada (part time)

Voith is looking for someone to fill the position of Regional Legal Advisor – Canada. The successful candidate will provide legal support to the Voith Group of Companies in Canada and will work closely with other members of the Voith Legal Group regionally and globally. The position will be part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) and is located at Voith’s offices in Brossard, Quebec (offices of Voith Hydro Inc.). The position will report directly to the Managing Attorney – North America in the United States.

The main responsibilities of this position are:

Write, review and negotiate a variety of legal documents in the construction field, such as non-disclosure agreements for complex equipment or construction contracts; Provide legal advice on handling disputes and claims as well as handling disputes and negotiating claims; Ensuring compliance and interpretation of applicable laws and regulations; and providing advice on policies and practices Company; Advising and training employees on the Voith Group Code of Conduct and any related compliance issues and conducting investigations as required. Manage and coordinate files with external firms; and Manage and respond to any other business questions and provide legal advice and analysis as needed.

The requirements for this position are:

Member in good standing of the Quebec Bar; Minimum of five years of experience as an in-house lawyer or corporate counsel; Have an excellent work ethic with an orientation customer service, while having the ability to meet the short deadlines, to prioritize and manage many files simultaneously Excellent command of French and English, both in writing and in French. oral; Work with confidence and diplomacy, independently and collaboratively; and Strong analytical skills with good judgment and business acumen.

The position requires national and international travel occasionally.

Although not required, the following are desirable:

a) experience and / or legal education in Common Law;

b) experience with large equipment and construction sales contracts;

c) intercultural work experience and international projects;

d) experience in labor and employment law; and

e) experience in complying with international trade regulations and other related regulations.
