Patent Law Assistant

One of the most distinguished law firms, located in downtown Montreal, is looking for a patent law assistant.Role and responsibilities:

-Proceed with the entry into the national phase in Canada of PCT applications, including the preparation of expedited examination procedures and voluntary amendments;

-Reporting and invoicing of Canadian national phase entries;

-Proceed to the transmission of the Canadian Certificate of Deposit;

-Assist with the verification of data entries in the PATTSY software;

-Proceed to the filing of CA assignments;

-Prepare the report of filing and registration of CA assignments;

-Prepare reports of US, CA and PCT publications;

-Review US, CA and PCT publications;

-Carry out reminders and filings of the request for examination in Canada, including the preparation of expedited examination procedure and voluntary amendments;

-Prepare the notice of acceptance report in the United States and Canada;

-Prepare deposits of prior art in Canada (IDS);

-Ensure the issuance of CA and US patents;

-Ensure the issuance of CA and US industrial design registration certificates;

-Deal with abandonments;

-Carry out the invoicing of all completed actions;

-Manage transfers of internal files from client to client;

-Assist specialists in their tasks.

Profile sought:

-Diploma in legal secretarial work;

-Minimum of 3 years of experience in patents;

-Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;

-Fluently bilingual (French and English) both orally and in writing;

-Knowledge of PATTSY software;

-Professionalism and concern to offer quality customer service;

-Very good writing skills;

-Sense of organization and management of priorities;

-Ability to manage multiple files simultaneously and meet tight deadlines;

-Resistance to stress and flexibility.
