Legal Assistant – Litigation

Our client, a fast-growing law firm located in downtown Montreal, wants to join his team with a legal assistant specializing in litigation.

Main responsibilities:

- Draft correspondence and prepare and review procedures and other legal documents

- Finalize the procedures for the purpose of notification and filing with the court

- Ensure the follow-up of procedural deadlines

- Communicate with clients, bailiffs and court representatives, and third parties

- Manage folders and documents using multiple storage applications

- Manage lawyers' calls, emails and calendar

- Update the industrial relations database

- Perform any administrative tasks, such as opening files, preparing expense reports and entering data

- Assist lawyers in projects related to business development

Skills and abilities:

- Attestation of Collegial Studies (A.E.C) in Legal Secretarial Studies or Diploma of College Studies (D.E.C) in Office Automation

- Diploma of Collegial Studies (D.E.C) in legal techniques, an asset

- A minimum of three to five years of relevant experience

- In-depth knowledge of litigation procedures in Quebec

- Knowledge of the conduct of proceedings in the Federal Court, Tax Court of Canada and Supreme Court of Canada an asset

- Excellent oral and written skills in French and English

- In-depth knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite

- Excellent attention to detail

- Great initiative combined with good judgment

- Ability to manage priorities and work with tight deadlines

- Great sense of organization

- Good team spirit
