Desjardins Capital boasts more than 45 years of expertise, $2.1 million invested in over 500 businesses, a growing team of 100 professionals established across Quebec and 8 funds under management.As a legal affairs technician, you contribute to the legal protection of the organization's interests by providing technical support for its rights and obligations.As a technical expert, you provide discipline-specific support for your unit's activities, mandates and processes. The ability to tailor your approach, when needed, is therefore essential. You carry out expert research and technical analyses involving processes, information management and data processing.You draw on your sound decision-making skills to solve technically complex problems, recommend changes or adjustments to work methods and procedures, and participate in their development to ensure optimum quality and efficiency.Under the supervision of the Legal Affairs Coordinator, you take charge of various technical initiatives relating to the investments made by our partner Funds. You extract and compile data, prepare various legal documents, draft analyses and produce reports. You also carry out certain tasks relating to portfolio tracking and financial data entry.

Additional responsibilities

  • Support the legal team in managing files and carrying out various projects
  • Carry out research in the REQ and the RDPRM and on other government websites, and prepare summaries of results
  • Help prepare transactions and implement guarantees
  • Manage and reconcile the property titles with Desjardins Trust (debt and equity)
  • Prepare certain agreements based on the templates developed by the legal team, such as confidentiality, and cession of rank / postponement
  • Prepare and finalize various administrative documents (eligibility, follow-up, etc.)
  • Produce various charts and reports
  • Request background checks (Gardium) and credit checks (Equifax)
  • Prepare the tax documents required for divestitures
  • Track mortgages and other guarantees accepted by our partner Funds (monitor publications, write-offs, etc.)
  • Monitor legal services performed when investments are made (post-closing)
  • Enter data to ensure the follow-up of files
  • Implement and update a tracking tool for the formal insolvency processes for our investments

Qualifications

  • College diploma en techniques juridiques or  in a related field
  • A minimum of three years of a relevant experience

  • For vacant positions available in Quebec, please note that knowledge of French is required 

Specific knowledge

  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Independent speaker, upper intermediate knowledge of English.
